All people should be able to access legal help regardless of their background or financial situation. We are a non-profit legal service that has been operating since 2005. We target our help towards disadvantaged people experiencing family breakdown who can’t otherwise access a lawyer, with a focus on parenting disputes, safety & family violence and child support.
Our work is an expression of Christian faith. Following the example of Jesus, we believe in expressing compassion freely to all people through the help we provide. We seek to use our knowledge to empower people by providing the advice and representation they need to solve the problems they are facing.
Horizons Family Law Centre is an incorporated legal practice operating on a not-for-profit basis. We are registered as a charity with the ACNC, endorsed by the ATO as a public benevolent institution and included in Legal Aid NSW’s schedule of community organisations providing legal services. Our Board includes people with backgrounds in law, accounting, not-for-profit leadership and corporate affairs. Our annual financial reports are externally audited and reported to the ACNC.

Our Team
Horizons Family Law Centre was founded by Steve Frost, our Legal Practitioner Director, who has more than 25 years experience in family law.
Our legal team consists of solicitors and paralegals who specialise in family law matters including parenting disputes, separation & divorce, AVO’s, and family violence. We may also be able to assist in criminal cases. We are unable to provide advice on financial or property matters.
Key Differentiators
- We Work Differently
Because we’re not constrained by funding requirements, we can do family law differently. We pioneered the delivery of legal services in collaboration with the Family Relationship Centre dispute resolution services and are still able to serve into the cracks in the sector. We continue to find unique ways of solving problems. - Help, Right Now
We are the only community sector legal service who provide same day call back advice and run court cases. Many clients engage with us for this reason. We’re here to help the growing number of families in crisis, right now. - Local Compassion
We facilitate a distinctive collaboration between local churches and local community service organisations. We have a 15-year track record… engaging positively with Christian faith communities.
