Will you help someone like Bernadette fight for her children’s safety?
We first met Bernadette* when she called our free telephone advice line looking for urgent support.
Bernadette’s former husband had been extremely violent. He’d been charged by Police with serious domestic violence offences and now Bernadette was 2 years into a parenting court case where she was fighting for safety for her twins and had lost all her
legal support.
That’s when she found Horizons and got in touch.

We quickly assessed Bernadette’s case, decided that she needed full representation and took it on.
Our team worked intensively with Bernadette to prepare her case for hearing and liaised with the Court to keep her safe during what ended up being a 6 day hearing process.
At the end of a long hearing and judgement process, the court ruled in favour of Bernadette, and she was allowed to keep her twins and safely build a new experience of family together.

Right now, we are working with more domestic violence survivors like Bernadette as they navigate the legal system and fight for the safety of their families.
This year, we’ll take over a thousand calls to our free telephone advice line, we’ll hold hundreds of face-to-face consultations and run dozens of mediations and court cases. Each of these endeavours take a significant amount of time, money and prayer.
